Term life insurance is available to you and your eligible dependents through the Securian (Minnesota Life Insurance Company). As the employee, you may elect coverage in $10,000 increments up to a maximum of $300,000. Amounts up to $50,000 are considered guaranteed issue. Dependent coverage is available in $5,000 increments up to a maximum of $150,000. Amounts up to $25,000 are considered guaranteed issue. Guarantee issue means that you are not required to provide medical history to be approved for coverage. Dependents may be covered for up to one half of the employee's approved benefit. Any amount over the guaranteed issue will not be in effect until Securian (Minnesota Life) approves the additional coverage. Therefore, you are not charged for the higher coverage until approved.
