Long-term disability is an income protection plan, which provides 60% of your annual salary in the event of a qualifying medical condition causing a disability. If you enroll within the first 60-days of employment, the coverage is guaranteed. After 60-days, you may enroll at any time, but medical underwriting is required, so a health history will be requested.
You elect an elimination period of either 90 days or 365 days. The elimination period is the length of time of continuous disability which must be satisfied before you are eligible to receive benefits.
