Retirement - State Retirement & Pension System

For those that served in the armed forces, but will not be receiving a military pension, the SRPS has a provision to allow the application of service credit for time served in the military.  Military credit may be applied once a member has completed 10 years of service.  A maximum of 5 years of military credit may be granted for military service prior to membership.  A copy of the DD-214 and the completion of Form 43 is needed to apply for military credit.  Refer to the Benefits Handbook for specific details regarding the types of military service.

Upon retirement, the SRPS grants service credit for unused sick leave.  For every 22 days of unused sick leave, 1 additional month of service credit is granted up to a maximum of 2 years.  The application of sick leave does not allow a member to retire early, but does increase the monthly benefit.
